  Dog fighting: What do you think of it?

  for me the concept of pitting animals together to fight, maim and rip the flesh off one another is beyond cruel and inhumane.

  what do you think of dog fighting at all - does anyone out there condone or enjoy that type of "entertainment"?

  As long as the animals are properly cared for, I have no problem with it. Like it or not, every animal fights, humans included.

  whilst most witnesses are brainwashed, many are instinctively honest (i hope!).

  those who have left or faded have displayed enormous courage.

  when we stop behaving as we were taught would that make us more or less honest?

  i was listening to a radio program the other day and i must admit after the dj finished i felt so foolish to be a believer in the bible.

  he was asking listeners if someone were to come up to them now and say that their donkey talked to them or their snake said a sentence to them or that their neighbor turned into a pile of salt would they want that person committed as "crazy" or want to know what "drugs" they were on.

  but as believers in the bible we swallow anything it says without proof and rely solely on faith.

  Have you ever considered that the Bible is not foolish, but believing it is literal is? I mean, do not the stories make perfect sense in an allegoricalway? Take Genesis and the garden of eden, for instance. If we look at it as an allegory, we can make some very useful connections. Knowledge comes with a heavy price. Temptation can be a dangerous thing. Don't believe something just because you want to believe it or it is convenient.

  the subject of how ones remains are dealt with, i think, is very revealing of ones core beliefs.

  i've heard atheists say that under no circumstances would they want to be cremated.

  that, to me, is inconsistent with their proclaimed viewpoint.

  i never enjoyed giving # 2 talks.

  i never enjoyed being at a podium and speaking.

  i took drama in high school just to get over the fear of being in front of people and speaking.

  Bob, I think you're overlooking a big consideration. In my guess, almost no one is born wanting to get up and be a public speaker. The terror we feel is quite natural. But, many who go on to become good public speakers do so because they are made to practice the skill, weather it's in an oral communication course, the j dub meetings, or a professional setting. The focus of practicing oral speaking is not to be naturally good or the best, but to improve and exercise the talent, and hopefully to overcome the fear or at least control it. Also, you have to admit that public speaking is a big part of the jw religion. Not practicing this skill and then expecting them to become preachers would be foolhardy.
